John Osei-Frimpong, has called on queen mothers to take ownership of the Gathering of the Royals initiative beyond mere participation and actively drive its agenda forward by implementing actionable solutions.

Speaking at the launch of the 7th Gathering of the Royals and The Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings Legacy Honours, Hon. Osei-Frimpong, who is also the immediate past Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Food, Agriculture, and Cocoa, emphasized that the 7th edition, slated for Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at the GNAT Hall, will not only celebrate leadership but also provide a platform to equip women with the tools and opportunities needed to innovate and lead in agriculture.

He highlighted the theme, “”Honouring Leadership, Inspiring Hope, and Delivering Agri-Jobs Through the Royals in AgriBooster Dignified Community-Level Network Initiative.” as a call to action for all stakeholders to play a pivotal role in fostering growth and sustainability in the sector.

“Our queen mothers hold the key to sustainable farming growth within their communities. Their leadership is crucial in shaping sustainable agricultural practices that will have a national impact,” he stated. He urged queen mothers to go beyond participation in the Gathering of the Royals initiative and actively work towards its long-term success by pushing for policies and strategies that drive change.

”I want to emphasize the crucial role of you, our distinguished queen mothers and the task you individually and collectively have to play, in driving agricultural growth, building sustainable farming systems, and ensuring that agriculture in our communities and regions thrives.

You hold the key to the growth of Sustainable farming, right within your very communities.

Your impact should steadily but speedily influence our  national agricultural and economic growth.

Your leadership is essential in shaping sustainable agricultural practices that will drive impact and foster long-term development.

It is, therefore, imperative that you embody the spirit of action to influence growth”. he remarked

Hon. Osei-Frimpong reiterated the critical role of women in agriculture, noting that despite their immense contributions, many continue to face challenges that limit their full participation in the industry. He stressed the need to dismantle these barriers by ensuring that women have access to knowledge, resources, and support systems that enable them to thrive.

The 7th Gathering of the Royals and The Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings Legacy Honours will feature the Royal Panel Dialogue, where eight queen mothers from the Ashanti, Greater Accra, Upper West, Upper East, Oti, Bono, and Western Regions will engage in discussions focused on breaking barriers and catalyzing innovation for women in agriculture.

The dialogue will address key topics such as empowering women in agriculture, strengthening the role of queen mothers in revolutionizing farming practices, and fostering women’s agripreneurship. Hon. Osei-Frimpong encouraged queen mothers to actively engage in policy discussions and initiatives that promote inclusive and sustainable agricultural growth.

He also commended Agrihouse Foundation for its commitment to advancing Ghana’s agricultural sector through various transformational initiatives. He acknowledged the impact of programs such as the Women in Food and Agricultural Leadership Training Forum and Gold in the Soil Awards, which recognize and celebrate the achievements of women in agriculture.

He also noted the importance of initiatives like the 1Household 1Garden (1H1G) Initiative, which promotes household-level food security, and the Agri-Woman Marketplace, which creates opportunities for women agripreneurs to expand their businesses. Additionally, he highlighted the Agricultural Student Career Guidance and Mentorship Bootcamp, the Pre-Harvest Agribusiness Conference and Exhibition, the Livestock, Poultry, and Fisheries Tradeshow (LiPF), and the Agrochemical and Crop Protection Exhibition and Awards (GACA), all of which have significantly contributed to empowering farmers and agribusinesses while addressing challenges in the sector.

He concluded by urging all stakeholders, including queen mothers, policymakers, and agribusiness leaders, to ensure that insights and resolutions from the Gathering of the Royals lead to real, impactful actions. He emphasized that the event should not just be another gathering but a movement that drives meaningful change in Ghana’s agri-food sector.
