“Some input dealers support me. I pay them back with some of my produce. I get support from my community. They have supported me with a piece of land. So during harvest, I give the community some of my crops,” she said.

“I have invested over 120, 000 ghc into the poultry business. I have been able to do so because of the support of my mother and my loving husband,” she said. While it is encouraging, Alice added that sustainable government support for the sector will go a longer way to make more impact.

“I farm groundnut 5 acres, maize 5 acres and soyabeans 5 acres, and it has been very helpful. I pay my children’s school fees, feed from the farm, buy cloths, and store some for the next season.”
