ALL SET FOR SIXTH EDITION OF GHANA POULTRY DAY ON JULY 1 TO CHAMPION LOCAL POULTRY CONSUMPTION AND INDUSTRY GROWTH

The much-anticipated 6th edition of Ghana Poultry Day is set to take place on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, bringing together poultry farmers, policymakers, agribusinesses, development organizations, researchers, consumers, and industry stakeholders to celebrate and promote Ghana’s poultry sector.

The annual national intervention, spearheaded by Agrihouse Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) and the Chefs Association of Ghana (CAG), continues to serve as a powerful advocacy platform aimed at increasing the patronage and consumption of locally produced chicken while highlighting the immense economic, nutritional, and employment opportunities within the poultry value chain.

Since its inception, Ghana Poultry Day has consistently championed the growth and sustainability of the country’s poultry industry by creating awareness on the benefits of consuming locally produced chicken, promoting investment opportunities, and encouraging greater participation across the poultry value chain.

Over the past five years, the celebration has evolved into one of Ghana’s leading poultry advocacy initiatives, influencing national conversations on food security, import substitution, local production, and agribusiness development. The platform has also facilitated strategic engagements among policymakers, industry players, development partners, and farmers, resulting in stronger collaborations, increased public awareness, and renewed commitment towards revitalizing Ghana’s poultry industry.

Through the years, Ghana Poultry Day has contributed significantly to promoting local poultry consumption, creating market linkages, inspiring youth participation in poultry agribusiness, and showcasing innovative practices and opportunities within the sector. It has further provided a platform for addressing industry challenges while advancing discussions on sustainable poultry production and value addition.

This year’s celebration is expected to be bigger and more impactful, with a strong focus on strengthening local poultry production, encouraging investment, and fostering partnerships that support Ghana’s food security agenda.

The 2026 edition is proudly sponsored by Qualiplast Ghana Limited and the Animal Welfare League, whose support underscores the growing private sector and civil society commitment to advancing sustainable and responsible poultry production in Ghana.

The event is also receiving valuable support from key industry players, including AMASS Farms, Preemal, Sikaman Ranch Limited, Testy Tom, and J-Thywill Agric Solutions, all of whom continue to contribute to the development and transformation of Ghana’s poultry sector.

Speaking ahead of the event, the Executive Chair of Agrihouse Foundation Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa noted that the celebration remains an important platform for rallying stakeholders around a shared vision of building a vibrant, competitive, and sustainable poultry industry capable of contributing significantly to national food security, job creation, and economic growth.

She further indicated that, aside, the advocacy chef cooking, which will be done by Ministers, Members of Parliament, CEO’s and influential people, the cooking competition, the interesting part of this year’s edition is the panel conversation that will attempt to proffer solutions to the local poultry sector.

As Ghana continues to pursue agricultural transformation and increased domestic food production, the 6th Ghana Poultry Day promises to once again spotlight the critical role of the poultry sector in driving national development.

Stakeholders, poultry farmers, agribusinesses, consumers, and the general public are encouraged to participate in this year’s celebration and join the national advocacy drive to support and consume locally produced chicken.
