RANSTINA AKESSI OPARE-SAFORO

Ranstina Akessi Opare-Saforo is an accomplished ESG, stakeholder relations, corporate affairs and reputation-governance executive with over eleven years’ experience helping organisations build trust, strengthen reputation, navigate complex stakeholder environments, and deliver sustainable long-term value across Africa’s most highly regulated industries.

She is Head of Corporate Communications at Guinness Ghana Breweries PLC (Castel Afrique), where she leads strategic initiatives across corporate reputation, stakeholder engagement, executive positioning, sustainability communications, issues management and public affairs — including steering the company’s communications and reputation through its transition from Diageo to Castel Group ownership. She works closely with executive leadership to shape corporate strategy, strengthen stakeholder confidence, and advance business objectives within an increasingly complex operating environment.

Ranstina brings to boards a distinctive combination of governance awareness, stakeholder influence, ESG leadership, reputation stewardship, strategic communications expertise, and community-centred leadership. She is passionate about helping organisations navigate complexity, build enduring trust, strengthen institutional resilience, and create sustainable value for shareholders, stakeholders and society.

Over the course of her career — spanning multinational and private-sector organisations including Fan Milk PLC (Danone West Africa), Broadspectrum, and Omni Media (Citi FM & Citi TV) — Ranstina has built a strong track record of aligning organisational priorities with societal expectations, managing reputational risk, strengthening institutional legitimacy, and fostering meaningful engagement across government, regulators, development institutions, traditional authorities, communities, media, investors and business leaders. She has led communications through ownership change and product-crisis situations, lifted employee engagement by 7% across four West African markets, designed engagement programmes for 800+ employees through major transition, and delivered landmark corporate moments such as Guinness Ghana’s 65th anniversary.

She is particularly recognised for her work at the intersection of business performance, sustainability and social impact. She has led and supported initiatives focused on environmental stewardship, water sustainability (including the White Volta Basin Water Collective Action), agricultural value-chain development and resilience, circular-economy and plastic-waste practices, local sourcing, community empowerment, climate resilience, and responsible business conduct. Her expertise enables organisations to integrate ESG considerations into business strategy while maintaining commercial competitiveness and stakeholder trust.

Beyond her corporate responsibilities, she is deeply committed to advancing sustainable development and inclusive growth. She actively supports community-based initiatives that promote the reuse, redistribution and repurposing of clothing and household items for underserved populations, advancing principles of dignity, circularity and responsible consumption. She also contributes her time and expertise to mentoring young professionals and supporting impact-driven initiatives focused on leadership development, empowerment and social progress.

Ranstina is a member of the Pan-African Women Executive Network (PAWEN) and has successfully completed its Board Readiness Programme, equipping her with practical expertise in corporate governance, fiduciary responsibility, board effectiveness, risk oversight and strategic stewardship. She is also a member of the Institute of Sustainability Professionals, Ghana, reflecting her commitment to advancing ESG excellence and responsible leadership.

She holds a Master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy and a Bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance. Her multidisciplinary background provides a unique perspective on governance, international affairs, sustainability, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and long-term organisational resilience.
